River of Life

The River of Life Church is full of people from all walks of life who want their lives to really mean something. Each of us have come to a real, life-changing experience of the love of God, which is, frankly, hard to put into words. All we can say is it has to be experienced to be understood. The Bible has so much to say about life, relationships, healing and forgiveness. We teach and apply the words of God as expressed in the Bible to the whole of life and find God makes all the difference!

We meet on Sundays at 10.30am in our own building, by the Railway Station - in Dumfries, a beautiful market town in the south-west of Scotland. Please do join us if you're ever in the area

Our hearts' desire is to see thousands of people come to know Jesus Christ as their personal Saviour and Lord through this Church and ministry.

A growing part of our activities are in overseas missions, supporting and helping out evangelical Churches abroad, particularly in southern Europe.

For some years we have been running a Christian Day School, having a full and comprehensive education for 5 - 18yrs and a Bible training, for 17+yrs, bringing courses and seminars focussed on practical, relevant issues. From time to time, we arrange special events, to help encourage and minister to the wider community in this region.

AFFILLIATIONS We are affiliated to the Evangelical Alliance and we are involved in Dumfries Christian Council, a group of the majority of Christian Churches in Dumfries, as well as a local group of evangelical leaders. We are connected to the Word of Life Bible Centre in Uppsala, Sweden and enjoy a good relationship with the ministry and senior Pastor, Ulf Ekman. We are keenly involved with Christian Care for the Homeless, a local initiative to help homeless people and those in need in Dumfries & Galloway. Pastors Mark and Helen Smith are members of the Hillsong Network. We're pleased to be inspired and encouraged through Hillsong London and Hillsong Sydney.

LEADERSHIP The leadership team is headed up by Pastor MARK SMITH, and contains the following people: HELEN SMITH (Christian School Head Teacher, and Pastor's Wife!) DUKE MILLER (Associate Pastor & Worship Leaders) MORAG MILLER (Children's Pastor) & LIBBY ROBINSON (Bookshop/Coffee Shop Manager).

YOUTH MEETINGS "Church Youth" 13yrs - 21yrs Thursday nights, 7.30pm - 9.30pm

ALPHA GROUPS We are have been running a comprehensive range of Alpha Groups, beginning in late September 2001. Alpha Groups enable people to find out more about the Christian Faith and were featured in a TV series on ITV presented by Sir David Frost.

HOME GROUPS

'Life Groups' meet at various times through the week in homes and are open to anyone who is interested to know more about the Lord Jesus Christ. To enquire about a Home Group near you, email or phone the Church office (01387 264646).
